The Brooklyn Museum & Botanic Garden

It isn't often that I venture off the isle of Manhattan and head to Brooklyn, so when I do, I make sure it's worth my while. The Brooklyn Museum has never disappointed.

It was here that I was introduced to the work of Ron Mueck, the Australian artist that makes gigantic and miniature lifelike sculptures. My favorite thing about his work is that he doesn't try to fix life, he lays it out there with all its imperfections and the result is beautiful.

The Brooklyn Botanic Garden is right next door and the perfect place to hang out after the museum. There is a cafe or I'm sure you could bring a picnic. Right now the Cherry Blossoms are at their peak. I hope I can make it there this weekend!
